Washington Avenue

Washington Avenue Tour Podcast – WAT1

Fortified by our morning feast we repair to the quiet reaches of the Wolfsonian Collection, South Beach’s most unique museum where we will be treated to an audio tour of the galleries and wind up at the Dynamo Food Factory & Cafe to sample the French confections crafted by Lyon Freres & Compagnie and Chef Kenny Lyon. Fortified with all this culture and more than a few calories, head north to Charlotte Bakery, a tiny 14th Street storefront bakeshop where the Tres Leches Cake charms with a sweet creamy filling topped with a caramelized dulce de leche swirl.

Crossing to the quaint Mediterranean Revival-style oasis that is Espanola Way, we visit Milani Gelateria for some truly authentic Italian Segafredo and A La Folie Cafe where the earthy, whole wheat Brittany-style crepes are tucked around fresh whipped cream and topped with warm Nutella!

Washington Avenue Crawl Podcast – WAC2

The bars along Washington Avenue are ideal spots to pre-game before a late night of Clubbing on South Beach. We’re particularly fond of the eye-candy, a sexy mix of well-dressed night crawlers who know it’s never a good idea to line up at the velvet ropes before midnight. We start out at Love/Hate Lounge, the bar made famous by the tattoo artists at Miami Ink, a TV show featuring the talents of some of the town’s top needlers. Currently owned and operated by DJ Self Made, the music format is an energizing mix of Old School Hip Hop, R & B and Classic Rock…

Heading north on Washington, we stop for a pint at Waxy O’Connors authentic Irish Restaurant and Bar where the bangers and mash help soak up the Smithwicks & Guinness. In a city like South Beach where everything is bright and shiny, having a chance to escape into the Old-World charm of dark woods and polished brass makes perfect sense to a pub patron.  For something a bit more lively, head right across the street to the Playwright Irish Pub where fans of rugby, football and Irish bacon sandwiches meet to cheer on their hometown teams and argue about every foul and finish.
